SWEATLODGE
The Sweat Lodge is an ancient ceremonial practice found across many Indigenous cultures, created as a space for prayer, purification, healing, and deep remembrance. Entering the lodge is a return to the womb of Mother Earth — a place to shed what no longer serves, listen to the wisdom of Spirit, and emerge renewed.

What Is a Sweat Lodge?
A Sweat Lodge is a dome-shaped structure built close to the earth, traditionally covered with blankets and hides. Heated stones (often called Grandfathers or Stone People) are brought into the lodge, and water infused with prayer is poured over them to create steam.
Within the darkness, guided by drum, song, silence, and intention, we pray for ourselves, our ancestors, our communities, and the Earth.
The ceremony unfolds in rounds, each with its own focus, allowing space for release, insight, and reconnection.

The day itself is held in community.
We begin by arriving together, we will dress the lodge together and bless the stones, weaving our prayers into the very fabric of the ceremony before entering.
Once inside the lodge, the ceremony unfolds over multiple rounds, guided by drumming, prayer, song, and periods of deep silence. The lodge itself usually lasts around 2–3 hours, though this is not fixed. The timing is always led by the needs of the group and the Spirit of the lodge rather than the clock.
After the lodge, we close the ceremony gently and share food together, helping the body and nervous system return while honouring the communal nature of the day.
You are also warmly encouraged to return the following morning to undress the lodge. This is considered an integral part of closing the ceremony with gratitude, and respect for the space, the land, and the spirits who were present. Ending together in this way helps integrate the experience and brings the ceremony into wholeness.
