About the event

Is the Drum Calling?

Join us for a powerful ceremonial experience where you will birth your own shamanic frame drum, a sacred companion that can guide you on your path of healing, connection, and deep transformation. Drums have been used for millennia in spiritual traditions worldwide, serving as tools for meditation, ceremony, healing, and journeying. The heartbeat of the drum mirrors the rhythms of the Earth, calling us back to our own innate wisdom and aligning us with the cycles of nature...our Mother's heartbeat.

This soulful, hands-on experience is a rite of passage. As you work with hide and hoop, you will engage in an ancestral practice of weaving, stretching, and shaping that mirrors the cycles of life, death, and rebirth. This journey serves to deepen your connection to the spirit of your drum, yourself, and the unseen realms.

A Journey of Creation & Rebirth

The act of birthing a drum is often described as a rebirthing of the self. As we weave, stretch, and tie each strand, we mirror the cycles of life, death, and renewal.

Through this practice, you will experience:

A Deep Connection to the Elements – Working with hide and hoop, you will attune to the ancient relationship between earth, fire, water, and air, recognizing how these forces flow through both you and your drum.

A Sacred Ceremony of Transformation – Throughout the day, we will honour the drum and its journey with songs, prayers, herbs, and blessings, listening to what the spirit of the drum calls for.

A Guided Drum Journey – Receive a curated shamanic drum journey recording to connect with the spirit of your drum in the comfort of your own home, deepening your bond.

Ancestral Connection – The vibrations of the drum carry ancestral wisdom, helping us remember who we are and where we come from. This is a chance to those of times past through Ancestral Craft.

What to Expect

This is an immersive, full-day experience held by Sally, with over 10 years of experience crafting drums. You will be guided through each step of the drum birthing process with intention, reverence, and ceremony.

Craft Your Own Shamanic Frame Drum

Select from ethically & responsibly sourced Scottish or Indian deer, Spotted Goat or Water Buffalo hide and work with a natural wood hoop, such as oak & willow.

Create Your Own Beater

A handcrafted companion for your drum, made using natural materials or leather & sheep's wool.

Sacred Connection to the Drum Spirit

The drum is more than an instrument, it is a teacher, a healer, and a guide. Through intention setting, blessings, and ceremonial practices, you will develop a profound relationship with your drum.

Shamanic Drum Journey

Receive a recorded guided drum journey to connect with your drum’s spirit in the comfort of your own home.

Honouring Ancestral Crafting Traditions

We will work with the full hide rather than a pre-made kit, honouring the animal and the materials through blessings, songs, herbs, and sacred intention.

This is a full-day ceremonial experience. Your drum will take several days to dry after the workshop, and guidance will be provided on how to care for your sacred instrument.
